“The dominant thought wins,” says health author Dana Demetre. If you’re thinking about eating junk food, that thought prevails and dominates your thinking. Thinking about unhealthy junk food can make your common sense fly right out the window regarding your health. Your unhealthy dominant thoughts can send you right where your desires lead you, but maybe not where you should go. Your eating, exercise, and health are first determined by your thoughts. Think clearly and sensibly so your UFO (Unhealthy Food Obsession) will have to GO!
Think health. The desire to cultivate a healthy environment for you and your body will allow the unhealthy thoughts to become less dominant or less desirable. It can push down unhealthy thoughts and make them lose. Dominant thoughts about healthy eating can prevail and override the unhealthy desire for junk food so that thoughts of healthy eating can win.
If your dominant thoughts are excuses, success will probably not be on the horizon. However, if the task at hand, every moment of every day, is to get your thinking going in the right direction so you’ll avoid the obstacles of wanting, getting, and then eating junk food.

Unhealthy, non-nutritious obstacles can make you lose sight of your healthy goals. When you come right down to it, for many of us, enticing junk food is an attractive distraction. The obstacles definitely can get in the way of a healthy plan, leading to dominant thoughts of junk food, especially when we’re hungry.
Just like there are dominant and recessive genes, there are dominant and recessive thoughts. Keeping healthy thoughts and desires dominant may be just the ticket to help you fit into those slim and trim blue jeans once again.
There are spices that can help you stay focused on healthy choices by boosting brain health and increasing brainpower. They can even stave off migraines, help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, and depression, too.
Keep “spicy” health tips in mind to remind you to stay focused on your health and, therefore, help you choose healthy meals and snacks.
Here are five spices suggested by Daniel G. Amen, M.D., on how to add nutritious ingredients to your menus that can boost brain health and increase brainpower to help you think more clearly regarding your health. They are: turmeric, saffron, ginger, garlic and cinnamon.
Turmeric: A University of California, Los Angeles, study in mice showed that turmeric broke up protein plaques, called amyloid beta,” a hallmark of Alzheimer’s,” and may be helpful in preventing Alzheimer’s disease in humans.
Saffron: Dr. Amen stated that a 2007 University of Tehran study discovered that saffron, which is often added to rice dishes, “works as well as Prozac in treating mild to moderate depression.”
Ginger: Dr. Amen also quotes findings regarding migraine headaches,” A recent study found that more than 80% of migraine-prone patients with mild headaches who were treated with a combo of ginger and the herb feverfew staved off migraines. Garlic: A 2007 study in the journal, Cancer, noted, “Garlic compounds eliminated brain-cancer cells, leading some experts to predict that garlic-based treatments for brain cancer aren’t far behind.”
Cinnamon: And finally, Dr. Amen reported that chewing cinnamon gum helps you, as he says, “React faster during your next tennis game, because a recent study found cinnamon speeds the rate at which your brain processes visual cues. One reason the gum may help is that cinnamon regulates blood-sugar levels, and this helps you stay focused.” By the way, adding ground cinnamon to your morning coffee can give your brain a boost.
Reason things out and use common sense regarding your health. Make healthy thoughts dominant. Increase your healthy thoughts, through learning. Learning about what you really need will aid you in your understanding of how important it is to push yourself toward nutritious food. Healthy thoughts help you avoid 1) the obstacles that make you stumble and cause trouble down the road, and 2) potentially disastrous health issues.
Education about the importance of eating a healthy diet is beneficial in strengthening and deepening those healthy-thinking grooves in your brain, so that healthy eating will be a dominant desire.
Remember this: It all begins in your mind. If you set your mind to it and become knowledgeable about your health, then Healthy Thoughts can Prevail and Healthy Desires will Dominate. So, may the best and healthiest thoughts be dominant so your thoughts and actions will be healthy ones.
